As our neighbor country to the south is preparing for gubernatorial elections in 2017, OYE! analyzed conversations within the country to determine early statistics for current official candidates: Alfredo del Mazo, Josefina V\u00e1zquez Mota, and Delfina G\u00f3mez.<\/p>\n<p>OYE! reports deliver insight on what English, Spanish, and bilingual speaking Hispanics have to say about a particular topic. Data analytics provide an effective way to monitor trends and behavior among online users. In the case of politics, it can provide insights toward relevant topics of conversations, sentiments toward a candidate or another; as well as providing the impetus for a meaningful marketing campaign based on this data.<\/p>\n<p>In politics, knowledge is power.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tracker Methodology<\/span>:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This analysis was extrapolated from a sample of 4,515 conversations on Twitter and Instagram of which 4,391 were from verified users in Mexico. All Twitter data was pulled from March 15, 2017 &#8211; March 19, 2017. All Instagram data was pulled from February 18, 2017 -March 18, 2017.<\/p>\n<h3>Gender &#8211; Mexican Politics Analysis:<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-189572 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/merge.thenativa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/mexican-politics-analysis-gender.png\" alt=\"mexican-politics-analysis-gender\" width=\"1201\" height=\"678\" \/>A high percentage of males are actively sharing conversations about Mexico\u2019s current politics. Hispanic males mentioned candidate Del Mazo (69%) by a large margin over females (31%). Surprisingly, males are leading the overall conversation regarding Delfina G\u00f3mez (85%) over females (15%). Josefina V\u00e1zquez Mota sees the strongest engagement from the female audience (44%).<\/p>\n<h3>Sentiment &#8211; Mexican Politics Analysis:<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-189573 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/merge.thenativa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/mexican-politics-analysis-sentiment-1024x577.png\" alt=\"mexican-politics-analysis-sentiment\" width=\"1024\" height=\"577\" srcset=\"https:\/\/merge.thenativa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/mexican-politics-analysis-sentiment-1024x577.png 1024w, https:\/\/merge.thenativa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/mexican-politics-analysis-sentiment-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/merge.thenativa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/mexican-politics-analysis-sentiment-768x433.png 768w, https:\/\/merge.thenativa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/mexican-politics-analysis-sentiment.png 1206w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><br \/>\nDel Mazo has the strongest positive sentiment (55%), followed by V\u00e1zquez Mota with a slightly smaller margin (54%). G\u00f3mez led negative sentiment (10%), however, review shows that many of these posts included negative language not directed towards her, but to her competition. These posts typically included a popular hashtag among G\u00f3mez\u2019s followers, #UnidosconDelfina.<\/p>\n<h3>Location &#8211; Mexican Politics Analysis:<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-189574 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/merge.thenativa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/mexican-politics-analysis-location.png\" alt=\"mexican politics analysis location\" width=\"963\" height=\"522\" \/><br \/>\nConversations among users peaked in Toluca for Del Mazo, due to a campaign stop he was doing there. G\u00f3mez had the most mentions in Mexico City (20%) followed by V\u00e1zquez Mota (15%).<\/p>\n<h3>Categories &#8211; Mexican Politics Analysis:<\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-189575 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/merge.thenativa.com\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/mexican-politics-analysis-categories.png\" alt=\"mexican-politics-analysis-categories\" width=\"912\" height=\"485\" \/><br \/>\nThe most common topic among Del Mazo conversation was regarding Jobs (64%). V\u00e1zquez Mota conversation was led with mentions of the hashtag #EdoMex (40%) followed by Change conversation (38%).
